Teaching

After years of digital fatigue compounded by the pandemic, I have found there is an urgent "hunger" for tactile, communal experiences that center on building and being outside. People want to be together and to work with their hands. With this is mind, my work is grounded in the idea of "radical optimism" with a focus on teaching young people the skills they need to be builders for themselves and their communities. The joy students find in using, sitting on or simply observing their finished work is unparalleled. Watching them proudly share “what they built” with their peers and community is what keeps me going and gives me hope for a better world.
