100 year old oak hickory forest was logged for the highest quality lumber you can imagine. Many trees that remain were not high enough quality timber to be cut down with strange bends, branching, or dying. While some trees were left to simply serve as the mothers for the next forest. Generations of forests ago, chestnut trees were the dominant tree here. Referred to as the redwood of the east, they could stand over 100 feet tall and measure 8 feet diameter. A blight killed all of them except a few. These few could withstand the blight and after generations of genetic breeding we are planting 50 seedlings. What follows is the story of this day, not so far in the future but not yet a reality today. If you are interested in making this climate fiction narrative a reality, please reach out.
